Canadian Taxpayers Federation urging Manitoba government to extend gas tax

By The Canadian Press

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is urging Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew to extend his gas tax cut before it expires on Sept. 30.

The Manitoba government cut its 14-cents-per-litre provincial fuel tax on Jan. 1, and Manitoba’s fuel prices have been the lowest in the country since the cut.

Polling shows 71 per cent of Manitobans want the gas tax cut extended, with 68 per cent of Manitobans wanting the government to scrap the fuel tax permanently.
