Winnipeg man charged in e-bike theft

Winnipeg police say a 44-year-old man has been charged in connection to an e-bike theft and for carrying a gun.

WPS says around 4:30 a.m. on July 17, officers noticed a man riding an e-bike near Isabel Street and McDermot Avenue.

The bike reportedly had unique features that matched the description of a bike that was reported stolen.

Police then took the man into custody, and were able to confirm that the bike was the one that was reported stolen.

WPS says while the man was in custody, officers were able to seize a sawed-off rifle and an air pistol in his backpack.

Terrance Trevor Okemow, 44, has since been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm, and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.
