Man stabs friend in argument over drugs, money: Winnipeg police

An argument over drugs and money between friends led to a 29-year-old man getting stabbed last weekend, Winnipeg police say.

The Winnipeg Police Service says the victim was stabbed multiple times on June 23 around 8 p.m. at Richie Street near Jefferson Avenue. He was hospitalized in critical condition and later upgraded to stable.

Police say multiple suspects fled before police arrived.

On Tuesday around 6:30 p.m., WPS says the stabbing suspect was spotted in a vehicle at McPhillips Street and Logan Avenue. Police allegedly seized methamphetamine and cocaine while arresting him.

A 20-year-old from Winnipeg was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and more. He was detained.
