Winnipeg man, 49, fatally stabbed downtown: WPS

Police say a 49-year-old Winnipeg man was stabbed to death downtown Tuesday night.

The Winnipeg Police Service says Ricky Dwayne Mancheese was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Officers were called to Kennedy Street near Sargent Avenue around 11:50 a.m. for the report of an injured man who had been assaulted.

Police say they found Mancheese with life-threatening injuries from a stabbing.

No arrests have been made.

“We’re working feverishly on this,” Cst. Claude Chancy told reporters at a police press conference Wednesday afternoon.

The WPS homicide unit is investigating.
