MPI to open temporary hail claim centre

Following last week’s hail storm that led to more than a thousand claims, Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) says it will be opening a temporary dedicated hail estimating centre in Winnipeg.

MPI says the new section will open in the already existing Physical Damage Centre, starting sometime between May 27 and 31.

Once open, MPI will be able to take more appointments for impacted customers.

“Last year, we experienced one of the most significant hail claim seasons in our Corporation’s history,” said Satvir Jatana, MPI’s President & CEO in a statement.

“Customers have been patiently waiting for hail estimating appointments and given the recent storms, we are committed to making our services available as quickly as possible and in a way that meets their needs through this specialized service option.”

MPI says it will be looking to make 70 appointments each day, and the centre will be open from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
