On March 28th at 11:56pm, WFPS crews went to the call of a fire in a two-storey, mixed-use building in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. They fought the fire from inside and declared it under control at 1:09am Friday.

Everyone in the building self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries are reported.

WFPS are asking residents in the area to be cautious of roadways and sidewalks as water used to fight the fire have created slippery conditions. City of Winnipeg crews continue to monitor the area and use sand and de-icing agents to help improve traction.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Keewatin Street Fire

Crews found the trailer fully engulfed in flames, and the building on fire with heavy smoke. They fought the fire from inside and outside the building, using a drone to help direct water streams and locate hot spots. A semi-truck was used to move other trailers away from the area.

The fire was declared under control at 10:38am. Crews managed to contain the fire to the warehouse section of the building.

No occupants were found in the building and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
