Woman stabbed in neck in hotel near Chinatown: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a woman in her 40s was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the neck at a hotel near Chinatown Monday night.

Police say officers were flagged down by the victim on Main Street near Higgins Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

She was given emergency medical care and taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police found a woman matching a suspect description in a hotel suite nearby.

Investigators believe the accused went to the victim’s suite and stabbed her. They say the two parties did not previously know each other.

Marlana Brandi Okemow, 23 was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and failure to comply with probation. She was detained in custody.

Police allege a knife was seized as evidence.
