3 charged after fatal shooting in William Whyte

Winnipeg police have charged three people in connection to a fatal shooting at a home in William Whyte Thursday morning.

WPS says around 2:40 a.m., officers responded to a report that armed men were in a home along Magnus Avenue.

After police attended the scene, they noticed three men trying to flee. A short time later, all three were in custody.

Police then searched the house, where they found a man dead inside.

Through the initial stages of the investigation, it is believed that the suspects forced their way into the home armed with weapons, including a gun. Police add it was after the forced entry, the suspects were confronted, at which point a gun was fired.

WPS says the deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Mitchell Michael Hanslip, from Lake Manitoba First Nation.

Police have since charged 23-year-old Isaiah Adrian Moose, 22-year-old Sydney Vain Moose, and 28-year-old Ashtan Cole Peters with second-degree murder.

In addition, Isaiah Moose is facing charges for possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm, and two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order. Sydney Moose is facing an additional charge of possession of a firearm. Lastly, Peters is facing additional charges of failing to comply with a probation order and four counts of possession of a firearm.
