3 charged for allegedly illegally selling cannabis and tobacco product: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say three people have been charged in connection to the alleged illegal sale of cannabis and tobacco products.

WPS says in September 2023, officers were alerted to community concerns regarding the sale of age-restricted items (illegal tobacco products and cannabis products) at several general/convenience stores in Winnipeg.

Officers conducted an investigation at various stores between Sep. 6, 2023 and Jan. 19, 2024.

Through their investigation, three stores — one on the 700 block of Sargent Avenue, one on the 600 block of Westminster Avenue, and another on the 800 block of Talbot Avenue — were displaying cannabis and tobacco products in plain view and were available to minors. Additionally, cartons of illegal cigarettes and cannabis products were found concealed within the stores.

Since, a 23-year-old and a 25-year-old have been charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, and provincial offence notices related to promoting or advertising tobacco or related products where children are permitted access.

WPS add a 41-year-old woman, who was the owner of the store, was charged with 30 offences.
