Stolen truck leads to drug bust and 27 charges: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say three people are facing a combined 27 charges in connection to an incident involving a stolen truck on Tuesday.

WPS says around 1 a.m. on Jan. 30, while officers were patrolling the Lincoln/Weston area they noticed a pick-up that was believed to be stolen.

Following the vehicle from a distance, officers say the truck eventually came to a stop at an establishment along Notre Dame Avenue.

Two men reportedly left the truck and went into the establishment, which is when officers took a woman who was still in the truck into custody.

Both men were also taken into custody. Police searched the truck and seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun with ammunition.

Police say an investigation resulted in $2,700 worth of cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription pills also being seized.

Now, 38-year-old Lawrence Dennis Chartrand of Winnipeg has been charged with the 13 following charges:

In addition, 36-year-old Gregory James Spence of Winnipeg was charged with the following 11 charges:

Finally, WPS say an unnamed 18-year-old woman is facing five similar charges.
