Winnipeg Residential Parking Ban to begin Sunday

After the City of Winnipeg announced Thursday it will be extending the Winter Route Parking Ban that was first announced on Monday. They added on Friday, that the Residential Parking Ban would come into effect at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Due to recent snowfall, a temporary winter route parking ban is now in place and will last until 7 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14.

City officials say parking bans are in place from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. daily while the ban is in place.

Residents are being told to check their streets for signs that say either “Winter Route” or “Snow Route” to avoid the chance of getting a ticket. Additionally, residents can use the City’s online address lookup tool or by downloading the Know Your Zone app.

Vehicles that are parked along winter routes may receive a $100 ticket and may also be towed.

The City says the Winter Route Parking Ban will still start on January 16, however, it will be suspended while the Residential Ban is in place. This means the Winter Route Parking Ban will still be in place once the Residential Ban is over, January 18.

The Residential Parking Ban means drivers may park on streets designated winter routes on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night.

Once the Winter Route Parking Ban is in place, drivers will not be allowed to park on winter routes between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.
