Winnipeg police investigating pair of fatal collisions

Winnipeg police are investigating a pair of fatal collisions that occurred recently within the city.

WPS says around 4 p.m. on January 5, officers responded to a report of a collision near Reenders Drive and Stapon Road.

Investigators have learned that a 59-year-old was driving east on Reenders Drive when a 70-year-old woman was hit.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police say prior to the fatal collision, the woman was in a minor collision and was crossing the street after exchanging details with the other driver when she was hit.

WPS says everyone remained at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Police responded to another fatal collision around 2:40 a.m., on January 6, near Notre Dame Avenue and Isabel Street.

Through initial stages of the investigation, police say a 56-year-old man was entering a carwash when he hit a 48-year-old man who is believed to have been laying near the entrance.

The 48-year-old was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
