St. James shooting: 1 suspect arrested, another wanted by Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police have arrested one suspect and are searching for another in connection with the shooting death of a 27-year-old in St. James last month.

Two men were taken to hospital in critical condition after the Nov. 5 shooting on Portage Avenue near Parkview Road.

One victim, Lawrence Evan Pruden, died from his injuries. Police have not provided an update on the health of the second victim, a 30-year-old man.

Winnipeg police say they were shot after leaving an establishment on Portage Avenue, and the suspects fled in a vehicle.

On Monday, homicide police charged 23-year-old Nathaniel Gatehouse-Gilchrist with second-degree murder and attempted murder. He was detained in custody.

Police are looking for a second suspect, 21-year-old Bryce William Walker. He is wanted for second-degree murder and attempted murder.

The suspect is described as five-foot-five, weighting 140 lbs. Police say he may be armed and should not be approached.
