Electrical malfunction believed to be cause of Winnipeg apartment fire

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services says no one was injured during a fire at a three-story apartment complex Thursday morning.

WFPS responded to a report of a fire just after midnight along Furby Street, after it was called in by an on-duty member with the Downtown Community Safety Partnership who was patrolling the area at the time.

Fire crews battled the fire and declared it under control at 12:35 a.m.

WPFS notes that the damage of the fire was contained to the area where the fire had initially started. Adding through the early stages of the investigation, the fire appears to have been caused by an electrical malfunction.

WPFS says most residents were able to return to their suites once the smoke had been ventilated from the building.
