Winnipeg’s basketball team is looking to set yet another attendance record in its final regular-season game of the year.
The Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) say they intend to open the full lower bowl of Canada Life Centre for the July 29 finale against the Edmonton Stingers.
Capacity for the game will exceed 7,300 fans. The Sea Bears already own the CEBL single-game attendance record of 7,328 fans set in the team’s inaugural season opener on May 27.
The Winnipeg Sea Bears (11-6), which will likely enter the playoffs atop the Western Conference standings, have sold out three home games in a row.
“We are truly humbled by the support we have received from the community throughout this season,” said Sea Bears owner and chairman David Asper in a news release.
