Messi to Winnipeg?

It’s a headline that might be a little hard to believe, but the possibility is there.

Since Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has confirmed Lionel Messi will be departing the club now that the French Ligue 1 season is over, the Argentinian superstar is on the market for a new club.

While Messi has been linked to his former club Barcelona, MLS’s Inter Miami, and Saudi’s Al-Hilal, Winnipeg’s Valour FC has taken their shot.

The club posted to social media they’ve slid into his Instagram DMs.

It might be a shot to the moon for Valour, but Winnipeggers and the Canadian Premier League will have to keep an eye on the transfer market.

Despite the interest and the potential revenue the 2022 World Cup winner and seven-time Ballon d’Or winner would bring to Winnipeg and the CPL, it’s hard to see Messi not going to his old club or playing under David Beckham in Miami.
