Unknown man allegedly enters Maples Collegiate high school girls’ bathroom, confronts students

By News Staff

Police are investigating after an unknown man allegedly entered a Winnipeg high school and walked into the girls’ bathroom.

The man, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, allegedly entered the washroom of Maples Collegiate high school Monday.

Police allege the suspect “confronted a few female students when they entered the washroom, but they quickly exited and reported the male to the school.”

None of the students were physically injured, Winnipeg police say.

The suspect fled afterward, and police were alerted. Officers from the school engagement section subsequently met with school officials.

The families of Maples Collegiate students and the surrounding schools were notified by school officials.

The WPS sex crimes unit is investigating.

“The Winnipeg Police Service encourages students to report to their school office if suspicious individuals are observed on school grounds or within the school,” police said.
