Teen in hospital after late night stabbing at Winnipeg school

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is investigating a stabbing at a school Thursday night that put a 15-year-old in hospital.

WPS says just after 11 p.m., officers and paramedics responded to a reported stabbing in the Wolseley neighbourhood.

When officers arrived at a home along Clifton Street, they learned the teen had made his way there after being stabbed at a nearby schoolyard.

“Investigators in the Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and determined the youth had become involved in a confrontation with a group of youths near the school. The incident escalated to him being stabbed, and the suspects fled,” WPS said in a statement.

The teen was taken to hospital in unstable condition and has since been upgraded to stable.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
