Fire at Ross Avenue home displaces four occupants

By News Staff

Four people needed to evacuate their home on Ross Avenue Saturday night because of a fire.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the two-story home on Ross Avenue near Sherbrook Street around 11:10 p.m.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the home. The blaze was declared under control at 11:43 p.m.

WFPS says all occupants of the home self-evacuated safely before crews arrived. The city’s Emergency Social Services were slated to help them find temporary housing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It was the second fire on Ross Avenue in less than 48 hours. A vacant home went up in flames a block away – between Isabel Street and Ellen Street – on Friday morning.
