Two charged after Thursday morning shooting in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police have charged two people in connection to a shooting that happened Thursday morning.

WPS says just before 6 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunshots at a home along Beverley Street near Ellice Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds outside the house. Officers began giving the man medical assistance before paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital in unstable condition. The man’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Police say a woman who was in the house at the time was taken into custody, adding another man was apprehended near Victor Street and Ellice Avenue and is also in custody.

A search warrant was issued for the home, where investigators say officers found a gun that is believed to have been used in the shooting.

The woman, a 22-year-old from Winnipeg, has since been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, failing to comply, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm.

The man, a 20-year-old from Winnipeg, has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, identity fraud, failing to comply, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm.

Police say both remain in custody and an investigation is ongoing.
