Dispute between ‘associates’ led to fatal November shooting: WPS

By News Staff

Winnipeg police say they arrested and charged a Winnipeg man in connection with a homicide last month.

Police say 26-year-old Tyler Alexander Severight is facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of Daniel Michael George Cook, 29.

WPS says Severight and Cook knew each other “as associates.”

Investigators believe a dispute led to the fatal shooting on Nov. 26 at a home on Furby Street near Sargent Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a man with severe injuries. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

Severight was identified as a suspect. He was taken into custody Dec. 21 near Sargent Avenue and Agnes Street, police say. He was detained.

Cook’s death was Winnipeg’s 47th homicide.
