Snow squalls on the way for parts of Manitoba

By News Staff

Environment Canada issued a snow squall watch for parts of eastern Manitoba.

The weather authority is warning there could be rapidly accumulating snow and near-zero visibility Wednesday night into Thursday.

The snow squalls are expected to develop east of Lake Winnipeg.

“Significant snowfall accumulations are possible though amounts will be highly variable due to warm ground temperatures and ongoing melting,” Environment Canada said.

“Snow squall warnings will be issued when the location and intensity of the squall bands becomes more certain.”

Residents are being asked to consider delaying non-essential, as travel could be dangerous “due to sudden changes in the weather.”

The snow squall watch is in effect for:

  • Berens River
  • Bloodvein
  • Little Grand Rapids and Atikaki Prov. Park
  • Bissett
  • Manigotagan Black River Res. and Hollow Water Res.
  • Nopiming Prov. Park
  • R.M. of Alexander incl. Powerview-Pine Falls
  • R.M. of Victoria Beach
