Would you pay more for ethical bananas?

Bananas are the cheapest fruit around, and Canadians eat them by the millions. In fact, during the current spike in inflation, bananas are one of the few foods to actually decrease in price. But even still, some Canadians are choosing to pay more for their bunches.
Deborah Aarts wrote in The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business Magazine about the Montreal-based, Equifruit, and the company’s mission to bring fair-trade bananas to Canadian consumers.
“I think it … speaks to how successful Equifruit has been, that they’ve been able to make these inroads during such a challenging time for food inflation,” she said.
So how has Equifruit been able to convince people to pay more for a staple item, during a time when many Canadians are feeling more price-conscious than ever?
