WPS charge two in connection to hotel stabbing Thursday night

Winnipeg police have charged two women in connection to a stabbing on Ellice Avenue Thursday night.

Officers say they responded to reports that a woman had been stabbed at a hotel along Ellice Avenue just before 11 p.m.

When police arrived at the hotel, they found a woman in her 20s suffering from serious injuries. She was taken to hospital in stable condition.

A little while later, officers say they arrested two women believed to be involved in the incident.

WPS says it believes the victim and the suspects were arguing in the hotel, the argument escalated, and the victim was allegedly stabbed.

Officers note two knives were found and seized when the suspects were taken into custody.

Both women have since been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with a probation order.
