The organization released an update Wednesday on confirmed cases of H5N1 in poultry farms. and says approximately 1,075,000 birds have been euthanized so far in Alberta.

That’s more than twice as many as Ontario, which has had about 567,000 birds affected.

The update comes after about 100 seals were found dead in Quebec in August, allegedly related to the highly contagious flu.

The risk to humans is low, however the flu can cause devastation to poultry industries.
