Ukraine’s latest counter-offensive victory includes regaining more than 3000 square kilometres of territory occupied by Russia.
And in the wake of Ukraine’s win are abandoned Russian tanks, ammunition, and soldiers held captive.
To the rest of the world, it’s been an incredible offensive — but is it enough to turn the tide of this war? What happens if Russia is humiliated in front of the world? What might Vladimir Putin do then?
Balkan Devlen is a senior fellow at McDonald Laurier Institute and Superforecaster for Good Judgement Inc.
“I don’t think they can continue to avoid significant domestic political costs of partial or full mobilization, something would need to give. Whether that is accepting that this is a war and stop with that nonsense of special military operation lingo and declare either partial mobilization or complete mobilization,” he said.
