Police seize cocaine, fentanyl, weapons in Waterfront Drive drug bust; two charged

Two people from Winnipeg are facing 12 charges each following a drug bust on Wednesday.

WPS say an investigation into the duo began in August, as concerns were raised regarding drug trafficking in the communities surrounding Waterfront Drive.

Police say they weren’t able to identify any suspects until September, when the Central Community Support Unit began an investigation.

On Sep. 6, WPS executed a search warrant for a home along Waterfront Drive. During the search officers took both suspects into custody and seized the following items:

  • 22 grams of crack cocaine (worth roughly $2,200);
  • 133 grams of cocaine (worth roughly $14,000);
  • 537 grams of marijuana (worth roughly $2,000);
  • 7 tablets of 80mg fentanyl (worth roughly $500);
  • Various tablets
    • Oxycodone;
    • Xanax;
    • Percocet;
    • Morphine;
    • Diazepam;
  • Packaging materials;
  • An extended Glock handgun magazine;
  • Brass knuckles;
  • Switchblade;
  • Bear Spray;

  • Vacuum packaging devices;
  • And money counters:

Both suspects have been charged with four counts of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession for the purpose of selling cannabis, five counts of possession of prohibited ammunition/devices, possession of a weapon and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

WPS say both are in custody.
