By News Staff

A person was taken to hospital in unstable condition after a fire in a two-storey home in the city’s North End on Thursday afternoon.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says a fire broke out in a home on Pritchard Avenue near Powers Street around 12:30 p.m.

Fire crews say they encountered heavy smoke and flames. The fire was under control shortly after 1 p.m.

The occupants of the home evacuated prior to crews arriving, including one person who jumped to the ground from a second-floor window.

The WFPS says paramedics assessed two individuals on location, and one was hospitalized in unstable condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
