Police still investigating 2 years after Winnipeg man beaten to death near Polo Park

Two years after the murder of Anthony Evaristo Gonzales, Winnipeg police are still searching for answers.
Police say Gonzales was beaten by a group of unknown suspects near Polo Park – at St. Matthews Avenue and Empress Street – on Aug. 9, 2020, around 1:20 a.m.
Police say the suspects then fled the area.
Gonzales, 30, died of his injuries in hospital.

Homicide investigators say they are still actively working the case.
They believe several eye witnesses could assist with the investigation.
“The Gonzales family would like the investigation to be resolved to bring peace and closure to their family,” the Winnipeg Police Service said in a release.
