Manitoba under heat warning over weekend

A heat advisory is in place across large segments of Manitoba.

Temperatures over the next few days are expected to reach between 30 and 40 degrees, with overnight lows of 16 or warmer.

The Manitoba government and Environment Canada are urging Manitobans to stay out of prolonged heat and drink lots of water to avoid heat-related illnesses.

Environment Canada says, “Extreme heat affects everyone. Heat illnesses are preventable.”

To try and reduce the health effects of heat they suggest the following:

If you or anyone starts feeling ill, confused or falls unconscious, call 911 as it might be heat stroke.
