IIU investigating after man dies in police-involved incident

Manitoba’s Police watchdog is investigating after a man died in a police-involved incident.
The incident occurred while the Winnipeg Police Service was responding to a domestic dispute over the weekend.
Reports say WPS was trying to de-escalate the dispute involving the man, who was also holding a knife.
Sometime during the de-escalation attempt, the man reportedly stabbed himself, at which point WPS used a taser to subdue him and take him to the Health Sciences Centre, where he died.
The IIU was informed of the matter and have launched an investigation.
