Remarkable run continues as Canadian Mattea Roach wins 22nd game on ‘Jeopardy!’

It’s hard not to root for Canadian Mattea Roach, who won her 22nd game on Jeopardy! relatively easily, having now amassed $534,984 US.

The 23-year-old Nova Scotia native and Toronto-based tutor finished the first round in the lead with $7,000, with fellow contestants Kelly Flynn at $3,000 and Jaime Sisson in third with $2,600.

Roach then coasted through the second round after Flynn failed to qualify for Final Jeopardy! and was in the negative. Roach amassed $28,400, with Sisson in second at $6,600.

The pair were faced with a question in the civil war category. It asked, “A Union soldiers’ song said Gen. McClellan, who let a Confederate army escape after this battle, ‘was too slow to beat ’em.'”

Both answered “The Battle of Antietam,” which is correct. Already well in the lead, Roach wagered nothing en route to the win with $28,400.

“I am still playing every game like I’m just so lucky to be here,” Roach said last week. “This has so far exceeded my wildest imaginings.”

Roach will return to Jeopardy! on Thursday.
