Emergency alert issued in Halifax after shots fired

An emergency alert has been issued in the Halifax Regional Municipality and is instructing residents to shelter in place and lock their doors, due to an ongoing police situation.
People in the area received the alert just before 8:15 p.m. ADT Friday after a pair of shootings about 20 kilometres east of downtown Halifax in the communities of East Preston and North Preston.
At least one suspect remains at large after a pair of shootings.
Officers report taking a suspect into custody, but two others fled into a nearby wooded area.
About 90 minutes later, police reported taking a second suspect into custody, and that additional shots had been fired to the east of the original call.

Police are focusing their search in the area of East Preston and Cherry Brook. Residents are asked to avoid the area.
No injuries have been reported.
