Machete-wielding man arrested in early-morning attack on elderly man: WPS

A man wielding a machete and a teenager were arrested and charged in connection with an attack early Saturday morning in Winnipeg’s North End.
The Winnipeg Police Service says witnesses spotted “several suspects,” including one armed with a machete, assaulting an elderly man.
The alleged attack took place around 2:15 a.m. near Selkirk Street and Parr Avenue.
Police say they arrived on the scene and found the victim lying on the ground with “severe facial trauma” following the incident.
The elderly man was taken to hospital in stable condition, according to a police release.
Officers say they located the suspects at a nearby home.
A 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.
Police say they located the suspects with the help of Air1 and a K9 unit.
