Winnipeg police say a woman is dead after being found unresponsive Wednesday night, and two people are facing charges.

WPS says officers responded to Alfred Avenue near Charles Street after receiving a report that a woman was found unresponsive.

Officers learned that the woman had been found outside, and by the time they arrived at the scene, paramedics were already treating her.

She was taken to hospital in critical condition, where she died from her injuries.

She was later identified as 45-year-old Christine Beck.

Police were able to take a 36-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man into custody around 2 a.m. on August 7.

Cailie Lauren Chartrand and Bradley Kenneth Jones have been charged with manslaughter.

Police say there is no further risk to the neighbourhood.

Residents say that criminal activity is nothing new in this area, with one resident calling the situation “a hamster wheel of revolving crime”, but emphasizing that there are good people in the neighbourhood who deserve better.
