Winnipeg police break up home meth lab, two in custody

WINNIPEG (CITYNEWS) – Two Winnipeggers have been arrested for setting up a methamphetamine lab in their home in the city’s northeast.

Winnipeg police have charged 36-year-old Darrell Allen Simard and 34-year-old Lisa Rose Gladue with production and possession of methamphetamine, according to a news release sent Wednesday.

The pair remains in police custody.

An investigation by the Winnipeg Police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) led police to a single-family home in the Kildare-Redonda neighbourhood last month.

Police say a search of the residence on July 30 led to the discovery of a meth lab as well as “numerous toxic precursor chemicals.”

The couple were allegedly producing methamphetamine by using the “one-pot method,” which police say is extremely dangerous because it can lead to explosive reactions.
