Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau launches re-election campaign in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Loud applause and chants of “four more years” filled the Italian cultural Centre in Vancouver Wednesday evening, as Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau kicked off his election campaign in Vancouver.
Hundreds of supporters filled the room, waiting for Justin Trudeau to rally alongside former T.V. anchor Tamara Taggart, just hours after dissolving government and officially calling for the election.
Trudeau decided to launch his re-election campaign in B.C. as he did in 2015, saying his decision to do so was backed by his deep roots in the province.
“You all know how proud I am to be a son and a grandson of British Columbia,” he said. “This was my home for a long time.”

He said he wants to help Canadians choose a government that helps the middle class, reiterating the campaign slogan “Choose Forward.”
B.C. will play a vital role in the federal election, especially in the Lower Mainland where the Green Party has support, with increased campaigning expected in these areas.

While the Liberals have support in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada, B.C., is unique due to the strength of the Green Party and the issue of the Trans Mountain Pipeline.

The Lower Mainland is expected to see a lot of campaigning, since the ridings are considered some of the most competitive ridings in the country.
Across Canada, there are a total of 338 ridings, with Canadians set to cast their vote on October 21st.
