University of Ottawa students were given quite the scare Wednesday afternoon after an erratic driver was involved in several collisions on campus.

Ottawa police say they responded to several reports of an impaired driver and a van striking a number of vehicles just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The male driver was arrested shortly after abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Early investigations reveled the van was believed to have been stolen.

The 36-year-old man is expected to appear in court on Thursday, but no details about the charges he may face have been released.

The University of Ottawa tweeted that campus was safe following the incident but Grand Allée is closed for the investigation.

Videos on social media shows a silver van with its front bumper missing driving recklessly through intersections.

Ottawa police said there is no reason to believe this was a targeted attack
