A warrant has been issued for the arrest of two escaped inmates from the minimum security Stony Mountain Institution.
The Correctional Service of Canada says it contacted the RCMP after inmates William Benjamin Hunter-Garrioch and Dale Jacob Gilchrist were not accounted for after the 9:30 p.m. count Saturday night.
Hunter-Garrioch is described as five-foot-seven, 126 pounds with a scar on his left wrist. The 21-year-old is serving a nine year sentence for, among other things, attempted murder and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Gilchrist is described as six-foot-two, 201 pounds with tattoos on his neck, abdomen, chest, arms, hands and right leg. He was serving a six year sentence for armed robbery and possession of property obtained by crime.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact police.
Correctional Service Canada adds an investigation is also underway to determine the circumstances of their escape.
