Manitoba’s premier has wished his congratulations to Winnipeg’s returning mayor.

Scott Gillingham was re-elected mayor of Winnipeg in Wednesday’s municipal election.

Gillingham won with 39.8 per cent of the vote, defeating Kevin Klein and Noah Redden – his two nearest challengers.

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew says he bumped into Gillingham on Thursday morning while the returning mayor was doing his “victory media laps.”

“Congratulations to Mayor Scott Gillingham on his re-election,” Kinew wrote on X. “Looking forward to continuing our work together to build a thriving Winnipeg and a stronger Manitoba.”
