MPI says last nights storm brought in over 8,000 claims

Manitoba Public Insurance says that following last night’s storms in Winnipeg, over 8,000 claims have been reported, including hail, flood, and wind damage.
MPI says these are still preliminary numbers, and they expect the numbers to increase over the coming weeks.
They say, based on current numbers, MPI expects yesterday’s events to exceed the impact seen following the hail storms in 2023.
MPI is asking customers to open their claims in different ways, depending on the type of damage that has occurred.
They say they’ve updated their processes to ensure they are fully responsive to customers’ needs at this time.
