Police crack down on drug trafficking network in northern Manitoba

Police say five people have been charged following an investigation into a drug trafficking network operating in northern Manitoba.

Project Darling, which began in January, investigated drug shipments between Winnipeg and northern communities like Island Lake, Oxford House and Thompson.

Officers searched a Winnipeg home on Pembina Highway on April 29. Police say five people inside the home were arrested, and $58,000 in cash was seized.

Those arrested range in age from 22 to 28. One of the suspects is from Winnipeg, another from Calgary, and three from Ontario. They have been charged with various offences.

The investigation is ongoing.
