Man previously accused of online luring now facing child pornography charges: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a man has been charged in connection with two separate investigations into child pornography and online luring.

The Winnipeg Police Service says in July 2025, its internet child exploitation unit (ICE) was alerted to child sexual abuse and exploitation material having been uploaded to the internet between February and May 2025.

In August, during an unrelated investigation by the WPS counter exploitation unit (CEU), police say a man was arrested for allegedly speaking online with a person believed to be under 18.

The accused was charged with communication for the purpose of obtaining sexual services; and luring a person under the age of 16 by means of telecommunications. He was released on conditions that included not accessing electronic storage devices.

This past Thursday, police say CE executed searched the man’s home in the Wolseley neighbourhood after investigators allegedly identified it as the internet subscriber linked to the uploaded child sexual abuse material. He was taken into custody and electronic storage devices were seized as evidence.

He was charged with multiple child pornography and child sexual abuse and exploitation material charges.

Winnipeg police say they are not naming the accused to protect the privacy of “involved parties.”
