Winnipeg firefighters respond to 2 fires early Friday

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires early Friday.
McDermot Avenue
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 1:36 a.m. Friday, in an apartment building in the 400 block of McDermot Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames from the building. They brought the fire under control about an hour later.
No injuries were reported. The City’s Emergency Social Services team provided temporary assistance to the residents.
Manitoba Avenue
WPFS also responded to a fire in a residential building in the 1900 block of Manitoba Avenue.
Firefighters were alerted to the first fire at 6:05 a.m. Friday. Upon their arrival, crews saw smoke and flames coming from the building which were contained by 7:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
Both fires are under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
