An 18-year-old Winnipeg man is accused of sexually assaulting two teenage girls after allegedly contacting them on social media.
The Winnipeg Police Service says two teens were contacted by a man using the names “Winnipeg Stunna,” “wpgstunna,” “Ajay,” or “AJ.” Police did not identify what platform was used.
Authorities say after several weeks of speaking to the man, a girl agreed to go to his home where she was allegedly sexually assaulted. The child abuse unit assumed the investigation and identified a suspect.
On Sept. 28, an 18-year-old was arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and luring a person under 14 years of age by means of telecommunication. His mobile phone was seized for forensic analysis.
He was released with conditions relating to the use of electronic devices and social media.
Investigators say an analysis of his mobile phone led them to learn, on Nov. 7, that the accused allegedly accessed a social media site contrary to his release order.
Police also identified a second teen who was allegedly lured and sexually assaulted around the same time as the first girl.
On Dec. 3, Alvin “AJ” Richard was arrested for sexual assault, sexual interference, luring a person under 14 years of age by means of telecommunication. He was remanded into custody.
The allegations have not been tested in court.
This investigation is ongoing.
