Man arrested after two commercial robberies in Winnipeg

Just before 10 p.m. on Friday, Winnipeg police arrested an adult man after he robbed two businesses at knifepoint.

28-year-old Julian Joseph Wood, first attended a fast-food storefront in the 600 block of Dakota Street armed with a knife and chased employees from the store before leaving empty-handed.

Later, he returned to a lounge in the 1100 block of St. Mary’s Road where he had been removed earlier in the evening, stole a 15-pack of beer from a vendor at knifepoint, and left without paying.

An employee tried to intervene, but Wood fled on foot. Officers observed the incident, and the man was arrested after a short pursuit.

No injuries were reported, and Wood has been charged with two counts of robbery, possession of a weapon and three counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order. He was detained.
