Manitoba increasing funding for Orange Shirt Day

The province is increasing the Orange Shirt Day fund for 2025 and encouraging organizations to apply.

Manitoba says $1 million will be allocated this year, which is a 25 per cent increase over 2024. The fund will provide one-time grant funding for projects and initiatives raising awareness for Orange Shirt Day.

Applicants that are eligible include grassroots or not for profits, Indigenous nations, communities, and organizations, educational institution,s and municipal governments all throughout Manitoba.

Sept. 30 was first established as Orange Shirt Day, a provincial statutory holiday, back in December 2023.

Applications for the fund are now open, with the deadline to apply at 4 p.m. on June 16
