The Government of Manitoba says it is investing $2 million in a new partnership with the RCMP.
The province announced Wednesday the new investment will be to expand Manitoba’s Operational Communications Centre.
Part of the will funding allow the RCMP to get six new officers and 10 public servant dispatchers at the communication centre, allowing for increased operations 24/7.
“Providing law enforcement with the tools they need to keep Manitobans safe and to get tough on crime is a priority for our government,” said Justice Minister Matt Wiebe in a statement. “This investment of $2 million will help ensure our officers have the resources they need to respond to emergencies in the moments when it matters most to Manitobans.”
The funding adds to Manitoba’s recent investment of $3.3 million to help RCMP hire more officers to address crime in rural and northern parts of the province.
