Victim of fatal Windsor Park assault identified as 50-year-old Cree Nation man

Winnipeg police have identified the victim of last week’s fatal assault near a park in Windsor Park as a member of the South Indian Lake community / O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation.
Police say 50-year-old Byron Frederick Moose died of his injuries in hospital Friday after the alleged assault on Dugas Street along the Art McOuat Park.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service notified police Friday at 4:36 a.m. Officers arrived and confirmed the man had been assaulted.
The WPS homicide unit is investigating.
