Winnipeg drug trafficking investigation: police seize cocaine, laptops in search of 3 homes

By News Staff

Winnipeg police say drugs, cash and allegedly stolen items were seized during the search of homes in St. Boniface and Sage Creek this month.

The Winnipeg Police Service says the searches were part of an investigation into the trafficking of illicit drugs.

Police arrested and charged three suspects – aged 38 to 42 – who authorities say were working together.

The guns and gangs unit investigation, which began in June, identified three suspects, who were then linked to three homes – two in St. Boniface and one in Sage Creek.

On Nov. 8, police say investigators searched a home in the 500 block of Ritchot Street and arrested a 38-year-old woman. Police allege methamphetamine and cocaine were seized.

Police also searched a home in the 400 block of Ritchot Street and a 42-year-old man was arrested. A stun gun was allegedly seized from the suspect, and a money counter, scales, vacuum sealers, and packaging materials were seized from the property.

The third search happened at a home and vehicle in the first block of Des Hivernants Street North, and a 41-year-old man was arrested.

Police allege a search of the home, vehicle, and an industrial garbage receptacle on the property led to the seizure of cocaine (street value of $11,000), methamphetamine, about $5,000 in cash and multiple laptops.

Charges faced by the suspects include weapons and drug offences.
